Never Submit the Same Song Twice: The Song Lookup Feature

Most Music League groups have this rule, or end up adding it eventually: you can't submit a song you've already used. Simple enough when the league is three rounds old. A lot harder when you're forty rounds in and trying to remember whether you already submitted that one.

The Song Lookup feature is there for exactly that moment.

How it works

Go to the Song Lookup tab in any league (or the combined leagues view). Type an artist name, a song title, or a fragment of either. Results come back as you type — every matching submission from your history, with the round it appeared in, who submitted it, and how many points it got.

It searches across all players in the league, not just you. So if the rule is that nobody can reuse a song, you can check whether someone else has already played it too.

Why it's more useful than you'd think

The obvious use case is enforcement — checking a specific song before you submit it. But it's also handy for the rounds where you can't quite remember if a song came up. Memory is unreliable, especially once a league has been running for a year. Searching for an artist shows you everything that player has contributed, which can be useful in its own right.

The score column is a bonus. You can see at a glance whether a song did well when it was submitted, which occasionally informs whether a different track by the same artist might land better.

It works across combined leagues too

If your group runs more than one league — a main one and a themed spin-off, say — the lookup is also available on the combined leagues view. That version searches across all the leagues you've merged together, so if your group has a no-repeats rule that spans multiple leagues, you can check the full history in one go.

The results show which league each submission came from, so there's no ambiguity about where something appeared.

The practical upshot

It's a small feature, but it solves a specific problem that most long-running leagues eventually hit. No more spreadsheets tracking what's been used, no more "wait, didn't we already have this?" arguments mid-round. Just search and find out.
