How to Find Your Music League Taste Twin
Your Music League taste twin is the player whose voting patterns match yours most closely — not someone who likes the same music in conversation, but someone who's been quietly awarding points to the same people you have, round after round, without either of you necessarily knowing it.
How it works
The analysis uses cosine similarity, the same technique recommendation systems use to match users with similar taste. Each player's votes across all rounds form a vector — if your league has 20 submitters, each player has a 20-dimensional voting fingerprint. Cosine similarity measures the angle between two of these vectors, giving a score from 0 to 1. A score of 1.00 means identical voting patterns; 0.75 or above is strong overlap; below 0.50 is minimal agreement. Your taste twin is whoever scores highest against you.
Why the results are often surprising
Most people assume their taste twin will be their closest friend in the group, or whoever they discuss music with most. It usually isn't.
Cosine similarity is indifferent to social relationships — it only looks at the votes. Two players who never talk about music can end up as taste twins because they've been independently drawn to the same submissions. The algorithm doesn't know they disagree loudly on everything else.
The two biggest music snobs in the group often turn out to be each other's taste twin. Make of that what you will.
Taste twins vs. superfan
Easy to confuse, but they measure different things. Taste Twins looks at similarity in who you vote for. Superfan looks at who votes most for you.
Your taste twin might not rate your submissions highly — they vote the same way you do, which means they know exactly when you're submitting something off-brand. Your superfan gives you points regardless.
How to see your results
